I hope you realise that tonearm bearings are fragile. If you have applied enough force to tear the cable you may well have demaged the bearings.
You should send the arm back to Reed for repair and check for any other wear or damage.
I would have suggested you stick to your knitting, but with all due respect, I wonder how many patients went in for a minor procedure and left with a partial lobotomy.
