@washline I believe the Kirmuss machine is a repurposed Isonic machine. I would compare prices. The people at Isonic are great to deal with, BTW
Recorded Cleaning Machnies
I'm going to buy a ultra sonic record cleaning machine. I am looking seriously at the Degritter MK2 but I just found the Isonic CS6.1-Pro Record Cleaning System, which has the advantage of cleaning 10 records at a time. Anyone have any experience with either of these? Comments? I have a lot of records (like most folks reading this I suppose) so cleaning 10 records at a time is a big deal. There is a price difference, but frankly, that is not too big a deal given what I am buying here.

I did purchase the ISonics machine from Amazon. It seems to clean okay, but the heater doesn't work. After 30 minutes, the water was still room temp. Most likely it was damaged in shipment, as the box was totally and completely trashed when it arrived. Sending it back, I'll probably order another one later. Maybe from a different vendor this time! BTW, for those of you who owe the ISonics, do you find the records are still fairly damp when the drying cycle is over? The cloth was needed, but it only picked up a little moisture, the records are not completely dry. If this is normal, then I'll need more drying cloths, as one is not enough for a big cleaning session. |
@spatialking - I have not used the Isonic machine, but I'm not sure you need "heat" to clean records; in fact, the cavitation action alone will cause the water temperature to rise. I took a quick look on Amazon to see what machine you might have bought and the description, while including heat settings, said that certain models don't include a heater. Does the device you received have some sort of forced air drying? I assumed it was an ultrasonic bath with a rotisserie or other record spinning mechanism only. |
