Recommendations: Mozart's Don Giovanni?

There are a many offerings of this opera, and I would appreciate your recommendations for a highlight and/or full production redbook cd.

Thank you,

The classic version Gaudio_eek is talking about shoulb be out of EMI's "Great Recordings of the Century"-series. Another excellent one is John Eliot Gardiner's 1995 live recording with Deutsche Grammophon 445 870-2
I second the Lorin Maazel's version. It's also my fave. However, it is not without idiosyncrasies.

For a more well rounded version, go for the classic:
Eberhard Waechter (Don Giovanni), Joan Sutherland (Donna Anna), Elisabeth Schwarzkopf (Donna Elvira), Graziella Sciutti (Zerlina), Luigi Alva (Don Ottavio), Giuseppe Taddei (Leporello), Piero Cappuccilli (Masetto), Gottlob Frick (Commendatore), Philharmonia Orchestra (at its heights) conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini. All great names.
The sound is not the most up to date but quite satisfying. I think there's a new remastered EMI version using ART process.

Good luck.
I don't know whether it is still available. My fav is Lorin Maazel w/ Paris Opera - CBS M3K 35192
