Recommendations for Cabling

Decided to test a NMVE .2  2230 (Satechi) SSD with a 1 TB Rocket (all USB 3.0) against a Samsung T7 SSD (USB 2.0). Almost all proprietary short stock cabling into Auralic Aries S1 USB 3.0. Satechi USB C wire required adapter USB A so used high speed Satechi C to A adapter.

While one might expect bits are bits and some minor differences the loss of low quiet detail was odd and rather striking. Ordered a recommended adapter (3.0) and power cable which separates power (3.1) for not much money but thought I would also solicit input here. (On the NMVE the fan had stopped for a half hour and unit cool to touch before comparison.)

Time to review and respond appreciated!

From a component point of view you have a nice system... I think pretty well balanced by having the LT preamp that is a bit warm and natural to offset the more analytical and a bit dry sounding detailed oriented amp and DAC.

Did you add the upgraded power supply to your streamer? The would likely be helpful.

Are you not using the internal storage on your Auralic Streamer? Normally you would use the USB to copy music into the streamer and then play from there.

The better the streamer the less the input will matter. I used to own a Aurlic Aries G 2. I use Aurender now. I really good streamer will isolate the source (whether ethernet or USB). The better the streamer the better the isolation. However, the input cable matters.

That is all I can say for now. I haven't come to a conclusion that makes me feel I can offer any advice yet. Maybe something you say in response will trigger further thoughts on my side.
