Recommendation: Streamer / Player with external NAS capability

fuzzy questions deserve the fuzzy uselss answers they beget...

Currently I have my music on a Popcorn Hour A-500 which is a UPnP / DLNA server. I am toying with the idea of building a new server with a QNAP and the MinimServer app / software. I am after a streamer / media player that will allow me to use the NAS as an input. I currently connect to a PS Audio external DAC so the streamer’s DAC is not critical. I would like to stay under $3000.

I had my mind set on a Cambrisge Audio CXN V2 but killed that idea when I saw it did not allow for an external NAS and lacked support for DSD DSF files.

What software are you running or do you want to run?  When you say "won't break the bank" that can me wildly different things.  Are we talking hundreds or thousands of dollars?
