Disclaimer: I am a Xindak dealer.
Sorry to stir the pot, but you may want to at least investigate the Xindak SCD-1 or SCD-2 (SCD-1 has solid-state output stage, SCD-2 has tube output stage). Retail is a bit over your stated price range at $1695, but you owe it to yourself to at least consider it. The Xindak is STUNNING for it's price (the only players that I have heard do a better job with Redbook and SACD are 3-4x the price, and even then, it is not a dramatic difference). FYI...My dad and I personally prefer the SCD-2.
I have been publicly "tooting" the Xindak horn so to speak lately, but I am SO impressed by what this player is capable of.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions, as I don't want to waste anymore of the threads time with my biased babbling, unless asked to do so.
Best Regards...Mike - Father & Son Audio
