not exactly sure what other functions you have a interest in but perhaps a PS3 would work for you. No idea how it scopes in the BD.CD/DVD playback quality world but you can do lots of stuff with it like web streaming and SACD. just a thought. ignore if off the mark. p.
Recommend blue-ray player w/ lots of functions?

We bought our first blue-ray player a couple of weeks ago and can't even use it yet (ugh) cause our receiver isn't modern enough. I've also posted elsewhere here about recommended AV receivers (that are known to not compromise in good music sound, if possible). So while the blue-ray player sits there plugged in but useless, I can't help but wonder if I should be asking those "in the know" if we even got a good enough one (I can return it before 30 days)! I bought it on the spot and there doesn't appear to be much out there in cyberspace about it.
What we got is the Panasonic Blue-ray Disc Player DMP-BDT310 (I don't think I'm allowed to put links here or I would). I liked that it seemed to be saying it will act as a CD player with stereo sound, cause our CD player broke. I don't know if that sound for music will be as good as a real CD player (?) but that's pretty important to me. However if you know that nothing will be as good as a CD player, please let me know that too!
