Real Monster Monoblock Tube Amplifier

About 18 years ago, I got used Jadis 500 Monoblocks to drive B&W 800 with 14 inch woofer.

Jadis 500 give 400W tube power with 12 KT88 tubes on each monoblocks.

The Power supplies are separate so it consists of 4 blocks with 120 LB each.

It had the most powerful bass and wide soundstage that I had experienced much better than Krell KSA 150.

Since I could not use it during summer because of too much heat generated , I sold the Jadis after using it for 3 years without much loss since I got used one at good price.

Now my speaker (Lansche 4.1) is not very power hungry (99db/W spec, real no. close to 94) with internal SS amplifier to drive two 10 inch bass units.

So I may not need another monster monoblock but I keep old memory of Jadis 500 which is a real monster .

Lyngdorf 3400 claim to put out 400 W to 4 ohm speakers.

It’s weight is less than 1/20th of Jadis 500 even with dac and room correction.

Someday I may try that one instead of monster monoblocks.

By the way I have done room correction using Accuphase Dg 28 for 15 years.

I am also curious between the difference of effect between Accuphase and Lyngdorf.
It's all about efficiency of operation. The Jadis specs show 350w output for 1000w consumption. A class D is more efficient hence a smaller power supply etc.
Somehow tube 400W appears to be more powerful than SS 400W.

These days tiny D amplifier claim to put out 400W.
Sure is a monster. I have a 90 pound tube (KT88/6550) amp in storage so I have a small idea of what it must be like!
thanks for the fixed link

I will not go back to Jadis 500 but it was a quite moment to use it for 3 years.
