re. Uptone ether regen installation

re. Uptone ether regen installation (based on the user manual).  Just hooked up my unit and it seems to provide a subtle improvement but I may be imagining things.  I did notice a couple of funky things going on with respect to the installation recommendations:

-  ethernet cables:  metal jacks are not recommended.  This would appear to eliminate the majority iif not  all of CAT 7 and CAT 8 c ables.  Guess I have to live with CAT 6 which uses plastic terminals.

-  Isolation from other stereo components.  I need to run a long extension cable so that it is not on the same circuit as my other stereo components (?).

Would really appreciate it if someone read this and could provide feedback on their installation.  thanks.

I am running my ether Regen with the USB in and the fiber out to my Lumin. Since I am only using a very short ethernet cable I was using a cat 5 based on the instructions you refer to. But I just tried a cat 8 cable, and I don't think it made a difference.

However, my configuration is different than yours.

Well, I just re-tested the cat 8 cable against the cat 5 that I was using to my EtherRegen, and the cat 5 is better! The cat 8 has a little more upper mid presence that sounds a little too much perhaps to the point of almost distortion? Not really, but the cat 5 sounds more natural. Strange things.

It must be due to the extra metal that is in the cat 8 connector as Uptone suggests.

I'm using uptone's JS-2 ps for both ether regen and my server, would it make a difference to isolate them electrically? And using a cat 8 to feed it, so that's no good either.
