That depends on whether you"re a foreign film fan. A lot of movies from Asia and Europe are only available in those particular region codes, making them unplayable on a region 1 machine. If you decide to purchase a region free player, make sure that it outputs a NTSC signal - unless you have a multi-standard monitor.
