I'm a little late to this party, but I can attest that adding 2 SR Orange fuses (1 to my preamp, and 1 to my amp) literally left my jaw hanging open.

So, I don't really care HOW or WHY it works, but I know for SURE that it indeed works.

George, have you actually tried any "audiophile" fuses?

Any at all?

Guess your ears can’t hear what mine do.

Frank,

My system was sounding pretty glorious, too.

The SR Orange fuses really, really make a difference.

Not cheap, but in my system very, very worth it.

Everything makes a difference. Power cables, interconnects, fuses, room tweaks, all of it.

Add up all the little things, and you get a BIG difference!

I've not tried all brands, but I will say this......I used to choose not to believe in this kind of stuff, it didn't make sense.
Then I tried a few......and while it still doesn't make sense to the logical side of my brain, the other side of my brain (the one that listens to the music) simply can't be ignored.

I have no idea how or why some of this stuff works. But it most certainly DOES work!

Let us know how the QSA fuses sound.

That's a LOT of money for a fuse. A couple of hundred bucks I can rationalize.

I don't think I have the equipment to support a thousand dollar fuse upgrade.....

Synergistic Research puts out some good stuff. About the limit of my wallet, too.....but if you have the money, by all means report back with your experiences on the QSA stuff.

"Also my YBA instructions say it needs a 10A slo blo, but it came with a 4A slo blo fuse. Do you think its a misprint on the instruction book?. The YBA poweramp says 10A as well. For a poweramp 10A i can understand."

That's a call to the manufacturer, for sure.
Can I ask a serious question?

Why are some of you guys here in this thread, and why do you feel the need to keep posting?

Some of us are here because we’re genuinely interested in the OP thread.

I don't get it.

Do you have anything helpful to offer or share?

I think your mileage may vary, based on what the fuses go into.

I'd love to try some QSA fuses.

The SR Orange really opened up my eyes.

So, if you're telling me that the Yellow is even better than THOSE, I'll have to give one a shot.

Without an ignore button, this forum is almost.........intolerable.

Distasteful.

I wish it would be different. I really do.
I was actually interested in this thread.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried the QSA outlets.

Wondering if anyone has any experience in this area.
Amazing, isn't it?

Something as simple as a fuse can really leave you gobsmacked to the difference in sound.
I've been using Maze Audio Ref 4 power cords for awhile now, but just ordered one of the new ones from GR Research to try out (the B24).
The Maze Audio ones certainly sound good for the price (running SR Orange fuses in the devices they're connected to).
After a few weeks break in on the GR Research cord (should be here on Friday), I'll have a better idea of which ones sound better to me (at least in what scenario).

And, yep....couldn't agree more. Everything matters.

A quick update on my new GR Research B24 power cable.

When I first plugged it in, I was pretty pleased with it. Sounded pretty good.
As I have listened to it over the last few days, I could literally hear the sound changing as the hours ticked by, and not necessarily for the better.
The music actually started to sound a bit distorted at one point, especially at higher volumes. Made me scratch my head a little bit, but the result/phenomenon was absolutely real.

For a A/B, (and to make sure I wasn't "hearing things"), I currently have the new B24 cable unplugged and a broken-in Maze Ref4 Power cable back in the system on my Classe preamp.

I'm going to revisit the GR Research cable this week and continue to let it settle in, but it needs to show some improvement soon, or this sucker's going back. Hopefully it's just breaking in (I think GR Research recommends 200 hours), but this is some of the most brutal break-in I've experienced on a cable so far.

@jafant,

I have not tried any fuses in a CD player.
HOWEVER, I just picked up a new-to-me modded Denon, and may take a look under the hood, see what’s in there and give it one a shot.

I imagine the "liquid" sound you get from a new fuse might compliment the tubes in it nicely. Probably have to wait a couple of weeks, though.....my audio budget has taken a beating lately and I need to refill the coffers, so to speak. :)

@yoby,

I moved the GR cable from my preamp to my amp, and that seems to have made any fluctuations in sound more tolerable. I’m sure it’s still "breaking in/settling down", but at least it’s more tolerable now. Jury’s still out on this one......

@boxer12,

Agree 100%. Strange to have such a strong opinion on something if you’ve never actually tried it......All I'll add is that bumblebees couldn't fly for 75 years......yet fly they did. ;)

@Jafant,

https://www.underwoodhifi.com/modifications/dvd-3910
Ultimate mod edition w/ NOS Siemens CCA tubes.
It’s definitely got some meat to the sound. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
Because it was modded so extensively, I will need to open it up and see what the current fuse(s) are rated for.

And.....for a couple of hundred dollars, with an iron-clad money back guarantee, you can hear an audiophile fuse for yourself!

Or take some wanker’s word for it who has never tried one, yet feels so strongly about it that he needs to post every page, at least 4 or 5 times saying the same thing......who has never even tried one, mind you.....but you do you and make your own decisions.

Give one a shot and report back. ;)

I think it depends on what you're putting the fuse into, and what you want out of it.

@Millercarbon,

Please report back with your findings.
I'm very curious to hear what you think.

If his is a "cultist" attitude, then consider me part of the cult, lol.

The difference some of these tweaks make are absolutely incredible.

I might splurge and get some of that new magic "goo" contact enhancer (NPS-1260).
Seriously, it’s what? $350 a bottle or so?

That’s not bad if it works as well as people say it does...
Of course, at some point, I imagine I’m going to hit the point of diminishing returns.....my system is pretty good, but I’m sure some of you guys have absolutely KILLER setups.

We do the best we can, I guess. It’s a journey, right?

No matter what else has gone on here *ahem*, this has been a pretty enjoyable thread.
Thank you, OP, and thanks to those that have discussed QSA and other brands.

See, here's what's funny.... Didn't the "magic beans" in Jack and the Beanstalk actually work?
@drpie ,

Interesting. I have a Classe CA2200 and CP800 preamp. I'm currently running Orange fuses in both.
As a mid-range fanatic, I guess I'll stick with what I have.
Thanks for the report.

@jetter,
All good in the hood. I’m jamming out to Tears For Fears’ Greatest Hits CD on my stereo.

Sounding pretty good, not gonna lie.
Carry on, and happy listening.
@jetter,
No, man...lol....I wasn't referring to you.

Just the copy/paste king who keeps posting jibberish. :)

Happy Listening.

@grannyring ,
Obviously that guy has some mental/psychological problems.
Maybe he ate paint chips as a kid, I don’t know. I honestly think he's in a hospital with nothing better to do with his time than sit on the internet and fantasize about actually owning a hi-fi system.
If we all ignore him, maybe he’ll just move on. (We can hope, anyway.)

@jetter,
My house was actually ON that show, lol. (It was right before we bought it last year). Fish and Game came out and removed a family of racoons from one of the sheds out back.

Anyway, back to listening. :)
@pesky_wabbit,

Ignore him. The guy's got something wrong with him. Just continue to report his posts and maybe sooner or later he'll get the boot.

I wouldn't recommend bypassing a fuse if the manufacturer has one in line.
You do what you think is best, though.
