Quad S-5
When i bought my Focal 926s I compared them head to head with Sonus Faber of the same price range. I just like the Focal overall performance better even though the SF were better with voice I thought. Couldn’t get past the cheesy azz stands on the SF either.
Then a year or so later I found a pair of Quad S-5 on craigslist for a good price and they were in show room condition. I compared the 926s head to head with the S-5s and just loved the low volume imaging of the S-5 but overall I liked the 926s better. The 926 have this ability to fill the room with sound. So I sold the S-5s
What I have found recently is my critical listening sessions have become focused more on jazz and classical. I am really missing the Quads. Beautiful cabinet, really nice feet, ribbon tweets and then image. Now I find myself scouring the net for a pair of used S-5s.
So S-5 owners speak up and tell me why you like them. And people who have had them and moved on , your comments are welcome as well.
