Quad Z Series

I recently picked up a pair of Quad Z-2 speakers. Music Direct had them on sale for $1500, vs. a street price of $2000. I picked up an open box pair that had been marked down to $1350, then further marked down to $1200 after a month when no one else bought them. Yes! I also got an SVS SB-1000 sub to fill in the bass below 50 hz.

After two weeks of break-in, the Quads revealed themselves to be excellent speakers, and a steal for what I paid for them. Compared to my old Wharfedale Opus One speakers, these are more detailed and transparent, with improved imaging. On good hi res recordings, acoustic guitars sound crazy realistic, and I'm a guitar player.

One thing I'm curious about for those who have heard the Quad Z series: How do the two standmounters (Z-1 and Z-2) compare to the floorstanders (Z-3 and Z-4) other than bass extension? Does the dedicated mid-range driver in the floorstanders lead to more accurate mid-range reproduction?

Music Direct had the Z-4 for $2500, but that was out of my price range. Also, the Z-2 is rated down to 50 hz (-3db), but the Z-4 has only a bit more extension down to 47 hz. So I would need a sub for those as well if I want my system to go below 40 hz.
