Yeah. I love Qobuz. I'm sure that if I ever truly splurged on better analog I'd like it more, but the Qobuz crew have excellent ears, lots of choices in all genres, and an inviting on-screen format. The hi-rez doesn't hurt, either.
Qobuz Digital Streaming
First, dear fellows and ladies, may I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday
‘Oh come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem,
Come and behold him, born the King of angels,
Oh come let us adore him, oh come let US adore him, oh come let us adore him,
Christ The Lord.’
On to the subject of the post;
I have for some years been kind of in Apple’s corner, so to speak. purchasing many Apple products, most having served well although my iMac 27 failed after a few years. I was enthusiastic about Apple Music finally being a lossless streaming service. I’ve used it now for 4 months.
I am somewhat puzzled that the ‘sound’ of the new lossless Music streaming service is just not that big an improvement over the former res service.
From my personal perspective, I always know when ‘things are right’. Take for example, Nat King Cole, or Mel Tormé, Peggy Lee, or Connie Francis. That music should always sound beautiful. If that is not happening, then something is not quite right. A decent system that’s been put together with some thought should sound good.
The streaming service quality matters a lot. Apple Music service for my purposes, doesn’t quite cut it. I made my mind up on this after comparing with Qobuz.
I have just subscribed to Qobuz for the year. It was an easy decision really. The price was compelling and competitive. $10.83 per month with annual commitment, $12.99 with two users. It took listening to just 5 to 10 tracks to have no doubt. I just sank and relaxed into my chair after 4 months on edge, not quite falling in love with the sound of any music I played. I had taken to preferring listening to ‘phones. But with Qobuz, it’s a whole different ballgame. The love is back.
The software application is excellent too. There are many editorial opinion pieces which one may or may not agree with, but its nice to have that just the same.
Time to ‘spin up’ some Christmas music!
Hugs and best wishes
