I have good experience with the sound quality of the Psvane Art series tubes. But I was not impressed on the longevity. Vivatubes did replace a 12AU7 Psvane that got noisy in the warranty period. Hope you guys improve the quality too.

But what is this Horizon series tubes? How is it different from Art series?

however if 75% of your products die within a few hundred hours of use, it really doesn't matter hhow good the sound might be

This is the exact problem I had. I was kind of disappointed and went with the Mazda tubes. These are on a completely different level. But I would also be happy if the Psvanes last at least 2 years.

I would like to hear feedback form folks who have compared the 12AU7 Art Vs Horizon series. And I hope this is their personal experience and not their friend's or brother's uncle's friend, etc.

If the new Psvane comes 80% or more close to NOS sound from highly regarded brands, then I would look forward to getting them in the future.

@alightronics,

The ART series is more expensive than the Horizon series.

Does it mean that it is still better than the Horizon - sound-wise?

What about longevity? Which would last longer - ART or HORIZON?

I am only interested in 12AU7 and hence my questions above are related to that specific tube.

The sound signatures have some differences: the ART series is warmer, while the Horizon series is more neutral and natural.

In terms of lifespan, the Horizon mini tubes all adopt the latest internal reinforcement structure technology, which indeed results in a longer lifespan.

@alightronics, Thank you for the details.

Based on what you mentioned above, it looks like the Horizon is the better series, at least for my requirements.Not sure why anyone would want to buy the ART series tube. Unless they want some warmth in their bright system?

@alightronics,

 I have placed an order for the Horizon 12AU7. Will be eager to find out how they sound.

I will say that I am impressed with the Horizon series 12AU7. I was NOT expecting them to sound this good.

I purchased this set to save my NOS Mazdas. The Mazdas are amazing, but these are so good that I don't care about doing a comparison. I am in no rush to put the Mazdas back in the system and can rest easy that if something happens to these Psvanes, I have the Mazdas to go back to. I will say that they are indeed neutral compared to the ART series. In the initial hour, the bass seems a bit muted, but has opened up since. In fact I feel that the bass is more taut. And they do glow a bit from bottom up. Very pleasant when you look at them. The Mazdas glow very faintly compared to these Psvanes.

The biggest concern for me is - how long will these last. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's been about a month now, that I started listening to the Psvanes. I don't want to make it sound like they are x or y or z. But the fact is that they have not diminished my listening experience. And I am happy that I can choose to listen to my beloved Mazdas at some later point in time. And I got the Psvanes for $55. These are much neutral than the ART series. The bass is well defined on these tubes. I am going to guess that some folks will take this as "less bass". But I really don't think so.

One negative experience about the previous ART series for me was they lasted just 9-10 months before getting noisy. So keeping fingers crossed, since these cost even less. Hope they last at least 10 months, which will be about $5.50 per month for auditioning these tubes :-(
