PS Direct Stream Vs. Lumin X 1 Sound quality difference?

First impression, perhaps a little sharp sounding, but its new and I assume a break in adventure is needed.

I know this was written back on July 7 so perhaps this has resolved with burn-in, but I was curious if you have been using the Stillpoints Ultra SS. My U1 sounds so much better without footers (I’ve tried BDR carbon fiber cones and Golden Sounds ceramic cones). I get the richest, dyanmic, while remaining neutral sound simply using a Symposium Segue platform. I’m going to compare to an Ikea bamboo board soon. Cones however just kept giving me a sharp treble edge and stole bass.

Ozzy - have you considered going with a standalone DAC to give yourself more flexibility?  I feel like the X1 is too much of commitment combining the streaming transport in the same box as the DAC.  I'm sure it sounds fantastic though.

@ozzy  I leave my unit on 24/7 and have the display set to go to "sleep" after 15 minutes of inactivity.

@ozzy  When I bought my Lumin U1 the distributer suggested I leave the power supply on for 500-600 hrs but not necessary to be running music through it the whole time.  I think the power supply burn-in is a big component of the run-in. I honestly have not noticed a big change in SQ but then again the U1 isn't a DAC as well.
