Prospectives on Chi-Fi

Putting politics aside this is a good opinion piece and I hope puts some things in prospective.

Putting politics aside and just looking at the facts, this ship sailed a long time ago, when western based multinational corporations saw an opportunity to destroy unions and make products abroad and sell them at back home at a dollar on the cent of production labor. Anyone paying attention could see that capacity to make toasters and irons could quickly turn into the ability to make quality hifi gear, computers and sophisticated communications gear, and ships, planes and bombs (sorry about that dark turn).

Chinese factories have been building excellent consumer and midfi electronics for offshore brands for decades. And now as noted in the original reference, many of those old line hifi brands are now owned by the Chinese. If you look at the quality and performance of current Chinese designed and built gear, it is hard to fault their products in 2023.

It’s amusing to hear people now complaining about what many of us saw at the front end of the offshoring wave. I buy what I want and can afford. Just like s bunch of other people. A long time ago I got over the fact that many of the components inside the products I buy are made in China, if not entirely. Before riding your high horse here, look carefully at the components and source country of everything in your home and office.
