Pro speaker placement and voicing in NM

Brian Herndon of Herndon Audio in Albuquerque recently dialed in my Vandersteen 7’s. Of course, I had fiddled with the Vandertones with a RadioShack sound meter, precisely measured with a laser ruler and their template for placement, toe-in and tilt. Add in a recently purchased a Aurender N20 and a loom of fancy Purist Audio cables and the music was alive. Then Brian set up a directional microphone at my listening position, plugged it into his laptop from there into my system. He spent over three hours making little tweaks and adjustments, repositioning here and there, calibrating and recalibrating.The final tuning was by ear. Now the music is magic. The kicker?  He accepted payment only if I was thrilled. Best value upgrade I’ve ever made.
