It would be helpful to know your budget. If you have less than $1000 to spend, you should consider the Adcom GFP-750 and the Marsh P-2000, both of which offer very good value for the money. If you have up to $1500 for a used unit, then your choices expand substantially, and I'm sure other members of the forum will have some good suggestions.
Any particular reason why you are looking at Solid State? The McCormack mates really well with tubed preamps.

Search - there's lots of responses to this one already.

I would consider a tube pre. a rogue 66, audio research ls2, sonic frontiers, are just a few of the ones that come to mind under $1000.
I had this same combination for years with a tubed Conrad Johnson pre-amp. It sounded great.
Try a PSE HL-1 for a budget Pre. It's excellent and has some very usefull features. Also, it's a hybrid with a few tubes so you get the benefit of tube swapping if you want to.
