Power Amp & Integrate Amp

Hi,

I currently have a Marantz Pre-amp that supports 11.2 configuration and a Monolith 5 channel amplifier. My current setup is 5.1.

I am looking to add 2 Atmos speakers for a 5.1.2 setup. Can I add an Integrated Amp to this setup to power the 2 additional speakers? Will it be effective? Or I should be looking at Power Amps only.

Any recommendation for Integrated Amp or Power Amp for my current setup will also be appreciated.

Thanks

I see you just joined.  Home theatre isn't a strength here.   Maybe someone will be able to answer you but you'll also get some misinformation.  You'll probably do better in an HT forum.

Integrated amp can work if it has an HT bypass feature. This is needed since your Marantz needs to fully control the volume of the Atmos speakers. So a power amp would be a natural fit. Any decent 2 CH amp will work to drive them. You do not need anything too fancy for this application. Look for used amps. Good luck!

What you need is a 2 channel power amp.   Schiit Vidar could  do the job.

Or a 4 channels power amp. If you think about more channels in the futur :

ATI  class D

An integrated amp. with home theater bypass would only serve if you want

high quality 2 channels for music( front speakers )   AND  home theater capabilities  when needed. 5.1.2
