Pull the knob off and see if the volume control works with the remote.

Plinius Preamp Remote control problem
I have a Plinius CD-LAD preamp. Recently the volume control remote ceased to working. All other controls on the remote work.
I see that the volume knob moves a little bit and then stops when I press the volume up or down.
Is it a common problem?
