Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD: PCM vs. Auto

I am confused about the HDMI Audio Out part of the setup. Right now, I have it setup to AUTO because I wanted to hear DTS-HD Master Audio. If I set it to PCM, do I still get better quality of sound from DTS-HD Master Audio?

Thanks for any advice!!!

Mantaray, with all due respect, you're spending too much time worrying about this stuff (from reading your various threads). Just leave it on auto and enjoy the DTS-HD Master and Dolby True HD tracks. Don't worry about PCM (Multichannel is PCM, not DTS-HD). The 905 should disply DTS-HD Master Audio when that it what is playing.

Also, if you can accept some friendy advice, you really need to visit your dealer or have someone locally explain your gear to you.
Riley804, I would not know which is the correct method to get pure DTS-HD Master Audio. The PCM selection seems to sound less gain and it did not display the DTS-HD Master Audio on my receiver. I do hear sounds coming out of using PCM but not as loud as the AUTO setting. When I use PCM, my receiver is displaying MULTI CHANNEL. What does that means? Does MULTI CHANNEL means that is is playing DTS-HD Master Audio or does it means Dolby Digital? Why is the sound level so low when using PCM?

You are right, I can test this out at home but I would not know what the heck I am looking at. I need someone who can provide me with solid facts and answers between PCM and AUTO. My receiver is the Onkyo TX-905NR if that helps anyone.

Wouldnt this be something that you could find out on your own ?
