Parasound JC2 compatibility with Quicksilver v4's

Hi Everyone,

I am new at the forum, thanks in advance for any feedback.

I was about to purchase a used pair of Quicksilver v4's when the dealer told me that my preamp (Parasound JC2) was not going to be good enough for those amps, therefore I will not get the sonic advantages of the V4's. I am a little confused by his comment (I like the JC2), maybe somebody can provide some advise. I am now running the Parasound JC2 with a pair of Monarchy SE 100's V2 or a pair of Monarchy SM 70 Pro's, depends on music/mood. 

I was also considering a pair of PrimaLuna monoblocks, I would like to have a good pair of tube monoblock amps.

Rob,

I'd take the preamp to the dealer and listen to it connected to the QS V4 and listen to the pairing. If possible while there compare it to other preamps your dealer recommends and just listen. This will solve the issue in the most direct manner.

I don't know what speakers you're using but I would make the effort to hear them with the Quicksilver V4. If you're really happy with this match I'd be cautious  about reversing to tube preamplifier and SS amplifier. If you find the V4 the sound you've been looking for,  a SS amplifier will be hard pressed to Sound the same (even fronted by a tube preamp). They're not the same,  I'd strongly recommend that you listen to both approaches and decide by simply  trusting your ears. There's no substitute for actually listening when this is possible to do so.   The speaker's design  characteristics and load (ohms) will determine which type of amplifier is the better match for it.  You have to listen and go with the one that moves you the most.

An "A" rating from Stereophile doesn't necessarily mean good sound 
The dealer could have been expressing his sincere opinion which another listener may or may not agree with. Hopefully Rob can take his preamp to the dealer and hear for himself.Both tubes and transistors have sonic  artifacts, they're just different in nature.
