Ortofon SPU Royal G Mk II is wonderful

Just put a new Ortofon SPU Royal G Mk II on my Garrard 401. I love it. This thing is a killer. Unfortunately, everything I can think of to say about it sounds like every cliché you’ve ever read about a cartridge.

I think this thing is incredible. I am using it directly into the LCR phono stage on my Supratek Cortese preamp. No need for a step-up transformer. Plenty of gain. Dead silent. Dynamic as can be. Micro-nuance and detail is natural and on that next level.

It is mounted on my Jelco 750L with the heavier counterweight. Tracks great. Sounds great. Can’t afford to upgrade the tonearm at this time.

So, if you’re on the fence about an SPU I can add my enthusiastic voice. This thing is a monster.
