Oppo BD-95 file capability

I am considering upgrading to the Oppo BD -95. I read that it will play files directly via its USB or eSata inputs. This brings up two questions. First, how large of a drive is it limited to, i.e. will it only play files on a small memory stick or can I attach, say, a 500 GB portable hard drive. Next, is there any limitation to the type of file it will play this way, i.e. can it play 24/96 and 24/192 files.

On Oppo's web site is stated "No, there is no support for Apple lossless." http://wiki.oppodigital.com/index.php?title=BDP-93_Media_Files_FAQ
The link is for BDP-93 because Oppo itself states that both players share the same streaming capabilities and indicates that the BDP-93 wiki should be used for 95 as well.
Not too many options besides changing the format to something Oppo supports.

My previous posting was wrong. Most of my CD's on the 1TB HP Hard Drive were recorded in the Apple Lossless format. These songs will show on the video screen but the Oppo will not play them.
Any suggestions?

I tried a HP 1 TB Drive with about 1800 CD's and the Oppo would only play a few hundred of the songs.

You can attach any size drive to the oppo as long as it is either FAT32 or NTFS formatted. I have a 2T drive attached and it reads without any problem.
Be careful about going any larger than that. Drives that are larger than 2.19TB use a different kind of partition table than is provided in the Master Boot Record that is traditionally used, namely the GUID Partition Table. I would not assume that the BDP95's operating system can deal with that, without confirmation from Oppo.

Before considering going to the BDP-95, just make sure this unit's DLNA non-compliance is an issue for you or not.
Do a forum search and you'll find posts addressing this very issue.
The unit sounds very good, but, as far as I know, there are some severe limitations when one wants to use it as a streamer.

There are some file formats it can't read. For example, it doesn't play AIFF
files but it can play WAV and FLAC. You might want to check out oppo web
site for a complete list of supported file format.

It does play 24/96 and 24/192 FLAC.
