I've only heard the analog outs of the 83 and 83SE and the 83SE was superior. however, I had my 83 upgraded to SE status and was not able to compare the two back to back. Others have done blind testing with the 83 and 83SE and posted their findings on avsforum. You may want to check there. I'm not familiar with the recently released 80, but I'd be surprised if the analog outputs could compete with the regular 83.
