Opinions and recommendations on active loudspeakers

May need to downsize soon and this seems to be the way to go. Just want to know if anyone thinks this is also the way to go. Also would like some thoughts on which models are worth looking into. Thanks Everyone!!!!!

I have a decent size room so bought a pair of used dsp8000's. I heard the Kii3 at axpona and liked the modular idea. The Kef ls50 has an active version now that's supposed to sound even better than the original. It's true you're married to the amps when you go active, but i think that's a good thing.

There's several pair of dsp8000's on ag for under $10k and if your listening room is big enough they really are the best i've been able to assemble for the money, compared to quality separates, I mean. As much as I liked the sound of the Ki3's at axpona I was a little disturbed when I put my hand on the top of a speaker and it was vibrating like crazy..It was wrapped in rubber so noise was deadened, but still.
Those JBL wireless speakers about the size of a can of redbull is probably as close to hi end as the upcoming generation is going to get. I've had 7 pair of full range highly regarded speakers pass through my listening room in the last 5 years all passive and component matching was a legitimate issue. I had the salon 2's for about a year and sold them because I couldn't afford to go down the amplifier upgrade path. With active speakers especially complex, high end speakers at least component matching has been taken care of and we know going in exactly how much the system will cost once complete that placement and room treatments are the only variables left. Being an audiophile on a budget I need to know final cost going in and buying passive speakers is a gamble!
I was being cynical, those little bluetooth JBL's at BB for around $100-150 and can be linked aren't hi-end and to us but i'm suggesting they'll be the newest, latest, greatest hifi invention.
Kenjit I stated the small jbl wireless were probably the closest this generation, which I apparently needed to clarify as the cellphone generation will be quite happy with those little dsp battery powered jbl is putting out in several colors for a buck and a half that can be wirelessly linked for stereo and even surround sound. You should go to BB and check them out.
