Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson And The Band

Hulu is airing a new documentary about The Band.

It is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.

It is expertly crafted and is told from Robbie Robertson's perspective, (he also narrates).

What a fantastic documentary!  I LOVE The Band and thought I knew quite a bit about them.  Not even close.

It's amazing to see these guys when they were just kids and to follow their progression.

Oh...the music kicks ass too!

Highly recommended!!!

Hello hifimadness,

Thanks for the recommendation, just watched it and really enjoyed it.  I didn't know much of anything about The Band beforehand, not even that they were Dylan's band for a few years, so their journey was all new to me and very interesting.  I'm very glad I watched it.
Unfortunately, it seems to me to be a far too typical rock'n roll story; a group of very talented musician/friends create music that's greater and more creative then the sum of their parts, individual frailties and insecurities emerge, usually fueled by excessive alcohol and/or drug use/abuse and group dysfunctions develop that manage to screw the pooch.
The truth is that these combination of factors are no strangers in ruining individual lives, families, groups and even countries.  As the big, fat, troubled, insecure, dysfunctional and dopey orange one would say:  Sad!
