You shouldnt remove a tweeter grille or protection. The sensitivity of a tweeter is with the grille on. X-over is designed according to the tweeters sensitivity. The tweeters SPL will be higher without the grille. If you dont have a way to boost the woofer, the speaker will sound brighter.
