Oil For Nottingham Spacedeck?

Is it safe and effective to use any other oil (and preferably less expensive) besides the oil from Nottingham in the bearing well of the table that the platter settles into? I just purchased a used Spacedeck and am going through it to make sure all is as it should be.

Don't do it. You don't want to take a risk. So yes I paid about $100 for a small bottle. Other oils may be safe too, but you cannot know it. Besides, the table might sound better with the oil specifically formulated for the bearing.

I think, you can get the Nott oil cheaper from divineaudio.co.uk
They are reliable, shipping was quick enough. I bought a belt from them. The bottle is good for five/seven oil changes that you should do from time to time, say, every year or so.
