All the speakers i ever heard in my life sound bad in various ways in a non controlled room...All of them...
There is certainly exception but i dont know them...
And even if a pair of speakers seems to sound good for your ears, be sure that they dont sound at all like they were designed to be at their OPTIMAL best in most living room..And the difference in performance is huge between a living room and a dedicated completely controlled room.... ( i know that for sure i take 2 years to create one )
I owned the Tannoy dual gold for 40 years and i neve4r heard them really all these years ...
Why?
Like most audiophiles i ignored completely the basic acoustics principles and how to use and control the parameters at play and they are intricate and numerous...
Subjectivist who "Taste" speakers brand name or objectivist who measured them are in the same bag, they ignore how to set a room to let a specific speakers reach his peak performance ...
Then a reviewer bash a brand ? So what...
All reviewers spoke the same language as the consumers : costlier upgrade of their prefered brand name miraculous gear solution proposition with no acoustics basic...

Take the speed of sound divide it by the room dimensions and you will know why in my past room the sound wave cross the room 80 times each second interacting with all the acoustic various material content of the room .... This must ring a bell no ? it ring a bell in my brain when i begun to thought about the way to control these reflections path and pressure nodes...
Nevermind the speakers and his price...
We always hear a system /room ....Not a branded name....
