Boy, never tried it but I really don't think that it would be very good. The basic platter should reflect all vibration back into the LP. I use the Boston Audio Mat, pure graphite, and it works wonderfully. I would strongly recommend giving it a try.
Nottingham without a mat...anyone try it?
I have a spacedeck, ace-space arm and lyra dorian. Currently I am using a Herbie's mat, which I prefer over the stock foam mat. However, I am having some static issues with the Herbie's mat that aren't present with the stock mat.
Before I try the turntable without any mat, I wanted to see if anyone has tried this and what differences you noticed.
