Noob McIntosh Speaker Connection Question

Am considering a McIntosh amp.  I notice they have Patented Solid Cinch™ Speaker Binding Posts.  I have never seen these before and can find no data (or pictures) of them being used.  My question is simple:  Do these posts accept spades or bananas?  If spade are they standard post widths?  My current cables have spades and I don't want to be forced to upgrade at the same time.

Bonus question:  Is there a commercial step down for the 5v trigger on the McIntosh from a 12v trigger?  Or do I have to build one.
