New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

THE NEW TWEAK

Over the good part of this past year I’ve been beta testing a new tweak, the name of which is "Total Contact." Its a hi-bred graphene contact enhancer that is different from all other contact enhancers that have come and gone for one reason or another. I’m not new to these contact enhancers, having had quite a bit of experience with a product developed by the late Brian Kyle and his "Quick Silver" contact enhancer. The "Total Contact" is different ... a LOT different.

"Total Contact" is graphene based and is not a vibration control. It eliminates micro-arching between two contacts. Micro-arching, much like Micro-vibration smears the sound in our stereo systems. Its the type of distortion that we don’t know is there .... until we eliminate it. There is no break-in as we know it. The sound is improved right off the bat, but what you hear is only a smidgen of what’s to come.

I tested three generations of "TC," each of which was an improvement over the previous incarnation. The final mix was cryogenitically treated and made for a more effective, much smoother application. It comes in a large hypodermic needle type plunger containing 1.5 ml of product and includes a instructional DVD and an application brush.

The application should be applied with a very thin coat to all of your electrical connections .... from your cartridge pins to your power cords. I did my entire system, including the ends of my fuses.

Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!

There are two real break-through events that happen almost to the day with "Total Contact," one at four weeks and another at eight weeks . At four weeks, you’ll get a real jump in clarity and overall improvement. That’s only a taste though of what’s to come at eight weeks. At eight weeks your system’s focus will make a jump in SQ that is so real - its surreal.

After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing. The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."

The only problem I had was with the first batch and that had to do with shorting out a tube pin in the line stage. Use the "TC" very sparingly on tube pins, if at all. I only had problems with the line stage tube pins. The Amp, CD Player and Phono Stage has had no tube pin problems at all.

Tim Mrock, one of our fellow A’goners, is the developer of the product. Its taken Tim 15 years and several patents to get it right. Tim has "pasted" every electrical contact he can find in his audio system, all of the switches in his circuit breaker box, every contact in his car ... and has used it in commercial applications such as hospital circuit breakers, surgical lights ... and other places where efficiency and long life of electrical components are deemed important.

This product is highly recommended to anyone who truly wants to get the most out of his/her audio systems. There’s enough product in each tube to do at least two audio systems as it just takes a very thin coat on each application to be effective. The last tube was enough to do my system twice and then a friend’s system this past weekend.

PS: There were a couple of other A’goner beta testers of this product as well. Hopefully, they will chime in here with their experiences for comparison. I "pasted" both of Steve Fleschler’s systems a few days ago, perhaps he will comment on his results too. We forgot to paste Steve’s power cords though, so there’s a lot more to be had from Steve’s two fantastic systems.

I missed this thread started on Xmas Day.  I have read all 6 pages of postings and as someone who has reviewed gear/tweaks in the past, I always re-read my own reviews to check on whether my review expresses genuine enthusiasm or if I have strayed into hyperbole territory.

I think a lot of the controversy here was generated by obvious hyperbole. I mean claims of reducing electric bills if the TC is applied to the entire house-full of electrical connections is just silly.  I'm not an electrical engineer but if anyone can actually explain the logic of that claim I would love to learn!

As far as I know, Total Contact may be the best Tweak since the original Mod Squad Tip Toes came out all those many years ago.  I may even be tempted to try some.  But...the hyperbolic statements made by proponents is not serving the manufacturer of this product well IMHO.

All the best!
@oregonpapa   I would very much enjoy hearing from Tim about his creation.  Perhaps he can explain much that has led some on this forum to go on the attack against the TC claims.

Do you agree with the following statement by thecarpathian about more universal applications for TC if it turns out that it does truly increase conductivity on the scale discussed here?  Here's the quote:  " If this paste can do everything that it’s been claimed to do,(and I’m not saying it can’t) this product is a game changer on a global scale. Electronics corporations, electric companies, the defense and aerospace industries, battery manufacturers, the automotive industry, myriad multi-billion dollar corporations should be lining up for this product."

Thanks!
I mentioned a concern with the moderators in another thread (blue fuse?) about the lack of any rationale being provided by the moderators for deleted posts so those of us participating on the thread have some idea as to the type of things being posted that are found to be offensive.

Someone's post was deleted after Geoff's benign last post.  Why?  What was the nature of the infraction?

Could Audiogon moderators come up with a few categories that would give context to the reason for a deletion.  I believe it would be helpful to all of us and help us to follow the "flow" of the thread.

As a hockey fan, if a penalty was called on a player but the infraction was not indicated by the ref. making the call, it would be darn difficult for players and fans alike to follow the action.
@thecarpathian  Agree with your post above.  My comments about the moderators are in no way meant to denigrate the hair-splitting nature of what they do to maintain a sense of civility on the various threads.

Again, moderators, could you come up with a few categories of post infractions so when a post is deleted you can inform the A'gon community about the basic nature of the infraction to help maintain the integrity of the threads?

One more thing moderators, please don't overdue the censorship here.  We're all big boys and girls and should be able to handle reasonable discourse.

I would hate to see A'gon go the way of so many college campuses where we need a "safe space" to have dialogue here.
geoff,

That was addressed earlier in this thread. If memory serves, the post mentioned treating virtually every electrical connection in the house including service circuit breakers.  The claim was made that the collective improvement in all of those electrical connections led to a reduction in electricity used by the house.  Green!
@randy-11  Wish I understood why you are so bothered by this thread.  If there are folks who want to buy what Frank is endorsing, what's it to you?  They will make a decision whether to part with the $ for the HC contact enhancer or they won't.

Personally, I've had some really good tweak experiences that were remarkably cost effective and some rather costly tweaks that were last than satisfying.  In the end I had only myself to congratulate or blame.
@theaudiotweak   I look forward to hearing the results of that.  It will be interesting to find out if you hear a difference right away or if it takes the aforementioned eight weeks to realize TC's total impact?
@perfectpathtech   Do you concur with Frank's observation that the 4 and 8 week points are milestones in realizing the benefits of TC?
@geoffkait   Did you mis-type the following:  " I’m not (rpt not) disputing the break in, I’m disputing the claim of being able to hear it. That’s all."

How can you, of all people here make such a claim?  You have claimed countless times in a wide variety of threads to hear all kinds of differences in tweaks and equipment as it/they break-in.  So which is it?😳
I have found a real performance difference using cryogenically treated brass screws. Smoother, more grain free music. I just assumed everyone knew. 😇 Can't imagine anyone is still using steel screws.  In this case I think everyone knew! 🤔

Since when is there graphene in snake oil?🐍
@wolf_garcia   You'd best get your order in fast before TC is on backorder!😆

Actually, I am also skeptical of the glowing claims made for TC.  Sometimes things just sound too good to be true...although I have been pleasantly surprised in the past by how much a simple tweak adjustment to my system really did improve the sound. Honestly wolf, I'm not sure what to make of it.
I'm not ready to invest in this effort yet.  I have purchased tweaks more expensive than TC that ended up doing nothing.  I've also been pleasantly surprised by the results I've realized from some very modest tweaks.

When you get to the point with your system where I think the lion's share of us are, almost any reasonable adjustment to your gear or set-up is going to yield a change, positive or negative.

I will say, that after I clean all of my system connections and put a thin coating of G100 on them, the sound does improve...a smoothness of texture and openness of soundspace.

Perhaps TC is just a greater realization of that experience using a more intriguing formula.  I look forward to reading more anecdotal evidence from those who decide to take the plunge.  Perhaps then...
@tommylion I agree with you and have said so on many threads here. I am not ready to try TC yet as I am invested in an amplifier modification project right now. One thing at a time.

In what possible way is TC a treatment for the top of a CD damping disc. I have that exact disc damper and use it every day. Why would someone put a contact enhancer on top of a disc damper whose sole purpose is to damp resonance as discs spin in the disc transport? Isn’t that a waste of TC?

But hey! this is still America and you can do what you will with a product you purchase. I like to think I have a pretty good imagination regarding our audio endeavors, but that one is a bridge too far.

If sgordon1 would like to explain his logic, I am certainly willing to read what he says and think about it.🤔
@slaw   I have no dog in this fight.  I just got a bit behind on this thread and after reading the last couple pages of postings, the first instance that I can imagine you would have taken offense was over the misunderstanding of your Silclear question.  oregonpapa's response  seems reasonable to me, simply pointing out that Tim Mrock would be bonkers to let his binder be known at the genesis of his product roll-out. Tim flat out apologized for misconstruing your post.  I'm not sure what else you would want him to do to make amends.

I feel a little like a guy on the gridiron in the striped shirt here.  I think most good folks today are offended a bit too easily.  This tiff never would have happened in a face to face.  Body language and the ability to jump in and correct a misperception would have nipped this unfortunate circumstance in the bud.

I sense more civility from all of the relevant players in this drama.  Perhaps everyone takes a step back and start fresh.  Slaw I have no idea if TC is good stuff or not.  Everything we know so far is anecdotal.  Perhaps some of the claims and applications of TC have seemed a bit over the top but the players seem genuine and decent as do you.

I'll send you guys a bill for my totally unsolicited and completely amateurish counsel.🤩

Best to all!
@perfectpathtech   I think at this point that prospective TC customers are better off hearing from you rather than surrogates.  Some surrogates' statements sound too much like overselling and make potential customers wary.

I am not knocking oregonpapa etc.  They have conveyed their excitement about Total Contact as they should if it transforms their systems to the extent that they state.

A video would be good as would a professional review if you can entice a pro reviewer to take the leap to tryout your product.  Hopefully your story, Tim, is of the successful American entrepreneur to went all in for "his baby" and was rewarded in the marketplace.

All the Best!
@geoffkait   If you don't respond, well... it was nice knowing' ya  😮
@perfectpathtech

Hey I have no dog in this hunt.  Would a decent compromise with Ozzy be to send him a very small amount of your current production TC so he can try it on a few fuses or whatever in his system?  I know you don't want to be giving product away.  Perhaps since he tried previous iterations of the product you might do him this one kindness.

Please keep in mind that you are asking people to take a leap of faith in trying TC. Such a gesture might fortify your professional image in many others here who have been following this thread and are considering taking that $300 leap with you.

Hoping something can be worked out to both of your satisfaction.
All the macro and microagressions in this thread would endanger collegiate safe spaces! 😬
@ozzy   Sounds like a reasonable proposal to me.  If Tim doesn't want to risk a full vial of TC, he could at least send you enough to try at several contact points that would allow you to see if gen.3 is the big deal that the flatterers here attest it to be.

In Mr. Mrok's favor, to have a former naysayer be converted to a product supporter would give TC gravitas beyond what the flatterers have stated.
@oregonpapa   So, a marketing degree or a degree in public relations?  Gotta be one of them.

Early in this promotional thread I believe you asserted that you are not receiving remuneration beyond the free vial of TC.  If that's true, you've been had!😮
@oregonpapa   Glad to hear it.  If you are satisfied with the sum total of your TC experience then so be it!

The folks here who have been using TC do seem quite genuine in their praise for the product.  I've tried original Tweek, Quicksilver Gold and Torumat, and did feel after cleaning and treating all of the system connections that I realized a benefit.

Lately I've leaned toward clean connections with a very thin application of G100.  Everything sounds a little smoother and more highly resolved after doing so.

I do hope that some non-Audiogon member reviewer will become aware of Mr. Mrock's creation and perform an independent review.  Tricky for most "regular" reviewers because of the 4 and 8 week threshold marks.  Probably a review with follow-ups would work.
In the end, your perception is your reality!  Enjoy your newfound reality.🤓
