Actually, the price to pay for a product should be considered against the audio sound increase. Price to performance ratio?

Thanks,
It came from an email showing it as a new product. Probably many did who sign up for the newsletter.

Yes, my speaker cables are 1M of the Townshend F-1 Fractal cables. I'm not really sure what the conductor is. Interconnects are 3M Shunyata Sigma V2.

Once again, these threads start going off topic.
I only posted this thread to share my opinion of a seemingly small disc that does perform quite well.
Some of the posts remind me of a time when I was power cord denier. I mean how can a 4–6-foot length of a power cord make a difference when there are potentially miles of wire leading to my house? There is no way I could believe it.
One day a salesman offered me to try a Synergetic Master coupler. Knowing that it would do nothing other than cost me money, I reluctantly took it home.
Once plugged in I couldn’t believe it. There was more bass and more of everything! How can this be?
Well, that was the start of my journey down the road of keeping an open mind when it comes to this hobby.
So here we go again with the same type of attitude, closed minds believing it can’t be true.
At this point, I believe in a few days I will ask Tammy to remove this thread. It is creating too much hostility. Those of you later on that try these discs can post your own opinions elsewhere.

One Guy? Huh? I’m a special guy.
Come on gents lets be courteous to others.

wesheadley,
You have said your peace and we understand your opinion. You will never try these items; ok we get it. Perhaps you should move on.
ozzy
|
I guess if I could explain how they work, I could make my own! Don’t begrudge someone from a making a profit on their ideas. We all would like to. Yes?
I doubt if you fellows would hear the difference even if your ears could, you have made up your mind. Too bad though, you’re missing out on some of the fun of this hobby.

So, I have now tried placing the tuning discs on the speaker cables at the amp end or at the speaker end.
Ted suggested placing these at the speaker end. I initially felt they sounded better at the amp end.
Today, I again placed them at the speaker end, and I think Ted is right they do sound more 3 dimensional in that direction with a more stable center image.
At the amp end they sounded more diffused perhaps that is why they seemed to have more air.
I still have the discs on the interconnects at the source end.

Thanks. I guess that is why I am concerned. This thread was actually taken down once by the Moderators. There is no advertising on my part.
Ted’s comments are essential to some of the questions posed. Such as when will it be available or cost? I don’t view that as advertising, just answering our questions.
ozzy

I am sorry that the product is not yet available. I guess try it if you want to when you can?
ozzy

Man, some of you guys are pretty rough in your comments.
Yes, I was asked to try some of the prototypes, and I accepted. I have always been a tweaker and love a good experiment.
I’m sure if you look through my history of posts you will find that I post things I like and those I don’t. You could say I am an equal opportunity critique.
I am not one of those paid reviewers, and to me, this is the best way to inform others of products that should be tried. That is: from actual audiogon experienced members.
I get it that there are some who try to use this forum for their financial gain. I am not one of those!
As I have stated now a few times. Try them, or don’t, I don’t care.

thyname,
When I asked Andrew at Synergistic Research about the price, he said they should sell for under $200 for 4 discs. But I guess he could be mistaken. They look to be really inexpensive, but I'm not aware of what went into it to create them.

Ted, I actually think it sounds better with the dots on the speaker cables at the amplifier end. Sounds more open to me.
gita, I think these will be released next week, but Ted will have to answer that.
ozzy
|
rocray, sorry, I thought I answered that question. Only one dot per interconnect, so 2 of them for a pair of interconnects. I have them placed at the source end. And in my case since I am running direct from Lumin X1 to my mono amps that is all I need.
At the speaker end, I have one per speaker cable so 2 more. So, a total of 4.
If you have more interconnects you can experience, I guess, by adding additional dots to each of them at the output point.
ozzy
|
Ted, Interesting, I will try them at the end of the speaker cables.
ozzy
|
I remember the WA stickers; I think I may still have a few. These are nothing like that. They are way more powerful in sound quality performance. Hard to explain but the sound becomes much more natural sounding.
You only need one per interconnect placed at the source end.

So soon after I received the couple purple and gold dots, I asked SR if I could get a couple more to experiment with other equipment and combos.
Today, to my surprise I did get a couple more to try.
So, first off, I found that placement is important. Sometimes the purple works better but other times the gold is better. It really depends on the equipment.
I also tried adding a couple more to my 3m long interconnects, but I did not like it, the sound became too closed in. Perhaps too much of a good thing?
Then I tried them on power cords and there again, I also got mixed results.
So, I will have a lot more experimenting to do. At the moment, I like the gold on my interconnects and the purple on my speaker cables.
I guess the important thing is to try both the purple and gold and don't settle on one type too soon.

tomic60. They came with a little white sticky putty. I suppose blu tac would work also.
ozzy
|
gita,
I also own the purple fuses and the QSA red fuses for that matter.
I think these tuning discs will give you more bang for the money. It is an instant result, not something you have to let burn in or listen carefully to tell if it is doing something.
It is amazing to me that something so small can do so much. But it does in my system. I guess that is what prompted me to post this thread.
ozzy

jerryg123,
I am interested in what you think after you are able to try them. I think you will be surprised (impressed).
ozzy
|
It is remarkable the differences in each item (purple vs gold).
Both versions will have a place in my system.
ozzy
|
That is interesting because someone already posted a picture of the boxes showing separate purple and gold boxes.
I guess we will find out.

For Information: This entire thread was actually taken down yesterday. I had to request Audiogon to reinstate it.
So, we need to be courteous of each other. Its ok to ask questions, heck it's a new product. But don't get personal and keep the comments to this product. Hopefully soon, others can comment on their actual experience, as I have.
ozzy
|
goose,
If you don't like them, I'll buy them from you!
ozzy
|
bugredmachine,
They are not yet for sale. What I have is a couple of the prototypes. But I think they will be listed soon.
ozzy
|
jl35,
From what I have been told they will be available next week at the Florida audio show. They are supposed to be under $200 for a set of 4.
ozzy
|
I do look forward for more of the Audiophiles on Audiogon trying them and posting impressions with actual listening experience.
I am always amazed at the creativity of some of the companies in the Audiophile land. They are entitled to make a profit for a good idea/product. The small cost for such an increase in performance is remarkable.
Thank you, Synergistic Research and all the others who work outside the box...to advance this hobby.

So, the question as to how many to use.
The discs are only placed at the sending end of the cable. So, for a pair of interconnects only 2 are needed.
Since I only have a couple of them, I have not been able to try them on both the interconnects and speaker cables at the same time.
But, at both the speaker cables output (at the amp end) and at the interconnects output (at the source end) they proved to be very beneficial. Perhaps too many of them would not be as good, but at this point I can't say.
A package of 4 should do a system. However, the tweaker that I am, I would also like to experiment with them on power cords and video when they do become available.
BTW, thank you for the support against the rabble rousers.

tony1954,
Very disappointed in your comment. No one asked me to write a review. I am only sharing my experience. Buy them or not. I don't care.
ozzy

Thank you coralkong,
thyname, Already a picture of them in a box?
Heck mine came in a SR fuse box. I am told they will be available at the Florida Audio show.
ozzy

Thank you marqmike,
I wanted to share something that amazed me and should be reasonably priced when it comes out officially.
And, I have had the Mad Scientist stuff, it is no way as good as this is.
ozzy

mapman,
He’s probably entitled for one based on these discs!
ozzy

I know, I know, I was skeptical too. But these little buggers are impressive. So much so that they may transform the high-end cable business, they're that good.
