New(ish) LDR Preamp Design - Java Hifi

Looks like this unit started on kickstarter. I haven't been able to find much about this unit online apart from the Java Hifi website. All I can find are prototype reviews. I am curious about the price compared to something like the Tortuga LDR's. The Tortuga LDR's are constantly re-calibrating themselves whereas the Java units utilize something called "trimming"... (Quote from Martin, who must be affiliated with the company as his email is @javahifi, on forum on pinkfishmedia.net)

"...with the anode and cathode of the LED of the LDR employed in a closed high-impedance circuit, separate from earth. In comparison most other LDR products have a resistor and capacitor in parallel to earth, resulting in those components always competing with each other."

I know we have a large lightspeed LDR community here, curious how this would compare with the input switches/on board AC power supply etc.
