New David Bowie Japanese import CDs - thoughts?

Saw em on musicdirect.com and they have his first 6 records for $150 (or something like that).

any impressions on sonics vs the remaster CDs? or, is the diff only in the packaging and the supporting text on the box (all in japanese)?

they are the same as the previous virgin remasters, except cool packaging.

The original RCAs, made in Japan or West Germany, are my favourite-sounding Bowies. Hunt around the used CD stores. Mastered without dramatic equalization or compression, better than the remastered CDs or the EMIs. But I have not heard the Japanese imports you refer to. I would be surprised if they are not made from the same source as the current remasters.
