Need help with the set up on a new Shelter 501

I am having problems with the setup of my Shelter 501 cartridge. I have the Clearaudio Emotion CMB turntable with the carbon fiber Satisfy tonearm. The only set up tools I have are what came with the turntable. Any advice on reasonably priced tools that can help with the set up? The first few tracks on an album sound great,however, the sound starts to distort as you get to the last few tracks. Additionally, I have a 2007 model ASR Mini Basis preamp. Is it better to set the amp at 82 Ohms or 100 Ohms for the Shelter. What differences will it make? As you can probably tell I am new to this, so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
