Need help with phono cable

Hello all,

I am having an issue with a Nordost Valhalla 2 phono cable I recently purchased used from a trusted seller on USAM. As soon as I hooked it up I got a fairly loud buzz, louder from the right speaker than the left. I found that when I disconnect the ground wire (both ends) on the Valhalla the buzzing mostly goes away. I tested continuity end to end on the ground wire and it is good. What's bothering me is I also get continuity from the ground to the RCA's both left and right. Is this normal? I tested my old Heimdall phono cable and I do not get continuity between the ground and RCA's. What's also odd is I tested the Valhalla at a friend's house and it also made noise when using the ground. But we were also testing out a pair of Heimdall 2 interconnects my friend was interested in buying and found that when we hooked them up from the phono preamp to his integrated amp all noise went away when using the ground on th Valhalla phono cable, if we removed the ground we go just a tiny bit of noise, which I would still consider normal.  But with the ground connected it was about dead quiet.  Could anyone with a Nordost Valhalla phono cable test and see if you get continuity between the ground wire and both left and right RCA's. My cable is not the Valhalla 2 plus, its the original Valhalla 2. Thanks!
