Nearfield Nirvana ?

My living room is about 24’ wide and 16’ deep and is open another 16’ behind my listening seat to the kitchen.

My seat to left speaker is 9’ and right speaker is 7’. Plus, each 10” Fathom sub used to face a polo club chair or a glider recliner just 3’ away.

I was constantly fiddling with the balance and there was way too much base and all the wall plates would rattle constantly at medium loud to loud volumes.

Solution . . . I angled each sub out almost 45 degrees to go past the chairs just to try it and am amazed.

Not only did the balance issue go away, the base feedback is gone (of course!) but the sound stage is much wider and Willie and Frank seem to now sing from a position somewhere deep behind the tv.

I post this just to see if others will think about trying this and post their impressions.

Will post pic later . . IF I can figure out how.

Very nice. Now pull your speakers out a foot or a little more, put your subs on the inside and you'll hear a sound stage like you won't believe.

P.S. Not sure how you get all the wall hangings to not rattle....

Yep . . . switched the sub and speaker on the right side only (trying to equalize the distance from speakers to sitting position) and it’s 10 times better. And no funky outward angle for the subs.

Bass seems deeper w/o the plates rattling, on nearly all cds except St Germain Tourist.  Sound stage is wider and deeper.

Thank you, Russ69 !!!
