Is it just for music or a backup for data to?

What are you willing to lose? If you have BUs your good, if not..

I use to do data recovery. I often talked people out of the recovery, it was costly.  Especially recovery from a dead  "disk" hard drive, a SSD the data has to still be there..I've never done recovery on ram drives.
If the updates are like most, there is probably a backup prior to the upgrade. If your lucky.. Again $$$$ how much is it worth, and do you have backups?

I would recommend you open a support ticket with QNAP and get their recommendations. They could likely provide a quote for the repair price, or recommend how to best save the data on the disks configured on your NAS. It looks like the QNAP is not terribly expensive. Perhaps you could by a new one and simply move your disks over to the new enclosure?

 I looked up your little enclosure, cool. It should fail safe. The enclosure shouldn't take out the devices, if that is what failed.  Scsi based tec. different degrees of error correction and safe storage, mirrored drive for hot swap, etc.  Depends of how good the BU devices and software really are. You're about to find out..

I was in a similar situation, but my power supply just burned out and the partition on the disk was damaged. I used RAID Recovery to recover the data.
