Nagra Classic DAC 3rd Party Power supply

So I'm auditioning the Nagra Classic DAC and enjoying it very much . Nagra offers the Classic PSU which is supposed to make a substantial difference in sound quality, the issue is it's almost the cost of the DAC itself. Has anyone successfully used a third party power supply with good results?

I used to own a Sim Moon 650d DAC ~$8K… they offered a separate power supply for $8K. With some reticent I bought it. It was well worth it. The noise floor dropped dramatically, which allowed the details to increase and bass was enhanced.

Personally, I would go with the one manufactured for your unit. It was made to be a complement, you can be sure if they are selling it at that price, it is made to be perfect.

Will their older MPS work with the new “classics”?

It is 12V, so I would think any 12V power, entering with no ripple, coming through a Lemo connector, should be just dandy.

There is also the battery option for the older MPS.

I guess the power condition must be ~20k for the new one?

luckily they do not need a power conditioner and a fancy power cord… I hope.
