My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!

So I have been in a long journey looking to find the best amplifiers for my martin logan montis. As you know, the match between an amplifier and speakers has to be a good "marriage" and needs to be blend exquisitely. Right now, I think I might have found the best sounding amplifier for martin logan. I have gone through approximately 34-36 amplifiers in the past 12 months. Some of these are:

Bryston ST, SST, SST2 series
NAD M25
PARASOUND HALO
PARASOUND CLASSIC
KRELL TAS
KRELL KAV 500
KRELL CHORUS
ROTEL RMB 1095
CLASSE CT 5300
CLASSE CA 2200
CLASSE CA 5200
MCINTOSH MC 205
CARY AUDIO CINEMA 7
OUTLAW AUDIO 755
LEXICON RX7
PASS LABS XA 30.8
BUTLER AUDIO 5150
ATI SIGNATURE SERIES 6005

With all that said, the amplifiers I mentioned above are the ones that in my opinion are worth mentioning. To make a long story short, there is NO 5 CHANNEL POWER AMP that sounds as good as a 3ch and 2ch amplifier combination. i have done both experiments and the truth is that YOU DO lose details and more channel separation, etc when you select a 5 channel power amplifier of any manufacturer.
My recollection of what each amp sounded like is as follows:

ATI SIGNATURE SERIES 6005 (great power and amazing soundstage. Very low noise floor, BUT this amplifiers NEEDS TO BE cranked up in order to fully enjoy it. If you like listening at low volume levels or somewhat moderate, you are wasting your time here. This amp won’t sound any different than many other brands out there at this volume. The bass is great, good highs although they are a bit bright for my taste)

NAD M25 (very smooth, powerful, but somewhat thin sounding as far as bass goes)
Bryston sst2(detailed, good soundstage, good power, but can be a little forward with certain speakers which could make them ear fatiguing at loud volumes)

Krell (fast sounding, nice bass attack, nice highs, but some detail does get lost with certain speakers)

rotel (good amp for the money, but too bright in my opinion)

cary audio (good sound overall, very musical, but it didn’t have enough oomph)

parasound halo (good detail, great bass, but it still holds back some background detail that i can hear in others)

lexicon (very laid back and smooth. huge power, but if you like more detail or crisper highs, this amp will disappoint you)

McIntosh mc205 (probably the worst multichannel amp given its price point. it was too thin sounding, had detail but lacked bass.

butler audio (good amplifier. very warm and smooth sweet sounding. i think for the money, this is a better amp than the parasound a51)

pass labs (very VERY musical with excellent bass control. You can listen to this for hours and hours without getting ear fatigue. however, it DOES NOT do well in home theater applications if all you have is a 2 channel set up for movies. The midrange gets somewhat "muddy" or very weak sounding that you find yourself trying to turn it up.

classe audio (best amplifier for multi channel applications. i simply COULDNT FIND a better multi channel amplifier PERIOD. IT has amazing smoothness, amazing power and good bass control although i would say krell has much better bass control)

Update: The reviews above were done in January 2015. Below is my newest update as of October 2016:

PS AUDIO BHK 300 MONOBLOCKS: Amazing amps. Tons of detail and really amazing midrange. the bass is amazing too, but the one thing i will say is that those of you with speakers efficiency of 87db and below you will not have all the "loudness" that you may want from time to time. These amps go into protection mode when using a speaker such as the Salon, but only at very loud levels. Maybe 97db and above. If you don’t listen to extreme crazy levels, these amps will please you in every way.

Plinius Odeon 7 channel amp: This is THE BEST multichannel amp i have ever owned. Far , but FAR SUPERIOR to any other multichannel amp i have owned. In my opinion it destroyed all of the multichannel amps i mentioned above and below. The Odeon is an amp that is in a different tier group and it is in a league of its own. Amazing bass, treble and it made my center channel sound more articulate than ever before. The voices where never scrambled with the action scenes. It just separated everything very nicely.

Theta Dreadnaught D: Good detailed amp. Looks very elegant, has a pleasant sound, but i found it a tad too bright for my taste. I thought it was also somewhat "thin" sounding lacking body to the music. could be that it is because it is class d?

Krell Duo 300: Good amp. Nice and detailed with enough power to handle most speakers out there. I found that it does have a very nice "3d" sound through my electrostatics. Nothing to fault here on this amp.
Mark Levinson 532H: Great 2 channel amp. Lots of detail, amazing midrange which is what Mark Levinson is known for. It sounds very holographic and will please those of you looking for more detail and a better midrange. As far as bass, it is there, but it is not going to give you the slam of a pass labs 350.5 or JC1s for example. It is great for those that appreciate classical music, instrumental, etc, but not those of you who love tons of deep bass.

 It is articulate sounding too
Krell 7200: Plenty of detail and enough power for most people. i found that my rear speakers contained more information after installed this amp. One thing that i hated is that you must use xlr cables with this amp or else you lose most of its sound performance when using RCA’s.

Krell 402e: Great amp. Very powerful and will handle any speaker you wish. Power is incredible and with great detail. That said, i didn’t get all the bass that most reviewers mentioned. I thought it was "ok" in regards to bass. It was there, but it didn’t slam me to my listening chair.

Bryston 4B3: Good amp with a complete sound. I think this amp is more laid back than the SST2 version. I think those of you who found the SST2 version of this amp a little too forward with your speakers will definitely benefit from this amp’s warmth. Bryston has gone towards the "warm" side in my opinion with their new SST3 series. As always, they are built like tanks. I wouldn’t call this amp tube-like, but rather closer to what the classe audio delta 2 series sound like which is on the warm side of things.

Parasound JC1s: Good powerful amps. Amazing low end punch (far superior bass than the 402e). This amp is the amp that i consider complete from top to bottom in regards to sound. Nothing is lacking other than perhaps a nicer chassis. Parasound needs to rework their external appearance when they introduce new amps. This amp would sell much more if it had a revised external appearance because the sound is a great bang for the money. It made my 800 Nautilus scream and slam. Again, amazing low end punch.

Simaudio W7: Good detailed amp. This amp reminds me a lot of the Mark Levinson 532h. Great detail and very articulate. I think this amp will go well with bookshelves that are ported in order to compensate for what it lacks when it comes to the bass. That doesn’t mean it has no bass, but when it is no Parasound JC1 either.
Pass labs 350.5: Wow, where do i begin? maybe my first time around with the xa30.8 wasn’t as special as it was with this monster 350.5. It is just SPECTACULAR sounding with my electrostatics. The bass was THE BEST BASS i have ever heard from ANY amp period. The only amp that comes close would be the jC1s. It made me check my settings to make sure the bass was not boosted and kept making my jaw drop each time i heard it. It totally destroyed the krell 402e in every regard. The krell sounded too "flat" when compared to this amp. This amp had amazing mirange with great detail up top. In my opinion, this amp is the best bang for the money. i loved this amp so much that i ended up buying the amp that follows below.

Pass labs 250.8: What can i say here. This is THE BEST STEREO AMP i have ever heard. This amp destroys all the amps i have listed above today to include the pass labs 350.5. It is a refined 350.5 amp. It has more 3d sound which is something the 350.5 lacked. It has a level of detail that i really have never experienced before and the bass was amazing as well. I really thought it was the most complete power amplifier i have ever heard HANDS DOWN. To me, this is a benchmark of an amplifier. This is the amp that others should be judged by. NOTHING is lacking and right now it is the #1 amplifier that i have ever owned.

My current amps are Mcintosh MC601s: i decided to give these 601s a try and they don’t disappoint. They have great detail, HUGE soundstage, MASSIVE power and great midrange/highs. The bass is great, but it is no pass labs 250.8 or 350.5. As far as looks, these are the best looking amps i have ever owned. No contest there. i gotta be honest with you all, i never bought mcintosh monos before because i wasn’t really "wowed" by the mc452, but it could have been also because at that time i was using a processor as a preamp which i no longer do. Today, i own the Mcintosh C1100 2 chassis tube preamp which sounds unbelievable. All the amps i just described above have been amps that i auditioned with the C1100 as a preamp. The MC601s sound great without a doubt, but i will say that if you are looking for THE BEST sound for the money, these would not be it. However, Mcintosh remains UNMATCHED when it comes to looks and also resale value. Every other amp above depreciates much faster than Mcintosh.

That said, my future purchase (when i can find a steal of a deal) will be the Pass labs 350.8. I am tempted to make a preliminary statement which is that i feel this amp could be THE BEST stereo amp under 30k dollars. Again, i will be able to say more and confirm once i own it. I hope this update can help you all in your buying decisions!

Appreciate the Comparison 4425. Sounds like a winner!! Might just have to trade something in to get one. Id be curious as to the difference between the 2 DAG Int's besides the price. The Momentum ones I know of didn't have the "upgraded" Preamp side so wondering if the Newer Progression have similar guts in that regard. Also hoping to find the warmer and more musical Luxman 800's at an affordable price OR wait and see if Luxman goes back to Class A on their next upgrade cycle of the Power Amp. Thanks again for sharing....and my wallet thanks you too!

3 Weeks ago I remember a slightly used Diablo 300 coming up for sale in NY here on Audiogon...by a Speaker maker no less.  Asking price was 11,500. No idea how much it actually sold for. Will bet he didn't pay 16K for it and take a $5000 loss.

https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis8ih6h-gryphon-diablo-300-solid-state?refsource=hifishark

I GUARANTEE you that Gryphon prices (Not the retail price) WILL come down in the not too distant future. Because there are only a few dealers here in the USA they can afford to be "Sharks" and gouge you for full retail.  Soon as the dealer supply pool starts entering double digits in the USA there will be competition and REAL prices will come down...and USED ones will drop significantly because of that....I bet into the 10-11K range when they eventually hit the marketplace.  Dont have to be a rocket scientist to know the formula. It applies to many business models. Those with patience will be rewarded.  I remember somebody claiming (On this thread?) that Audio Research only allows a 8% Max discount which is RIDICULOUS.    As far as everything in the 10K+ Amp marketplace sounding good....Have you listened to the new Mcintosh 1.25's yet?  Might change your tune.    Wonder how your Rowlands will stack up against the DAG 400's or the Gryphon Memphisto.
The K1 is a used one recently traded in towards a MSB Select 2 Dac...he doesnt have to worry about break in...its over 1 year old.
Coda's probably wonderful BUT whats the resale value compared to what you paid for it?  THATS the problem. Not much of a discount (if any) on Boutique brands like Coda, Bakoon, Valvet etc  You will lose a HUGE chunk of your investment when you ditch it.  Thats what keeps this investor savvy audiophile wannabe away.
I'm assuming that neither of you is running your Esoteric's with a clock?? The Used K1 had a G1 clock with it when it was traded in...hope you got the pair. Probably missing out on a lot going without it.

Hey Chazzy,

The Diablo looks like a BLACK Xerox Copier/Fax Machine. If that thing was Off-White or Tan in color you would think it belongs on a secretary’s desk. Im sure it sounds wonderful thou. If they ever redesign its looks to something acceptable I will be sure to pick one up. The fact that MANY people think the looks is a problem (go on other Forums) suggests the company should rethink its design. When people discuss MAC, Luxman, D’agostino or any other high end brands (based on their appearance) you rarely hear that as a reason why somebody WONT buy their product. I dont care if 50-60% of the Audiophile community LOVES the Gryphon looks....You cant afford to have 40-50% not want it simply because its not something they want to be prominently displayed in their room/rack. They are losing plenty of potential sales, including mine, just based on that alone which is NOT good in this small niche audiophile market.

I have read on several forums/reviews that the Diablo 300 sounds Dark so WC is certainly not alone in making that statement at all. I havent heard or read about brightness but not sure how many are listening at same volume levels as the OP.

Anybody see the latest Diablo 300 on Audiogon? Listed as MINT with a 11,500 asking price...2nd one in a row listed at that price. The dealer (Percotta in Connecticut) took 9K for it.

Gryphon Audio Diablo 300 integrated amplifier Mint cust...$9,000.00 Listing Sold

Don't get P.T.Barnum "suckered" into paying Full Retail unless you enjoy losing 5-7K in the blink of an eye.

If you WATCH the listing and it sells it tells you what price was accepted in your Q. This price then gets reflected into the Audiogon "Average sale price" although not sure how long that takes to happen. Dont know if its updated daily/monthly etc.  It has been stated HERE on this thread (and elsewhere) not to expect any discounts when purchasing Gryphon gear.

OP....Here is your quote from 5/19....Just sayin.

Dealers DO NOT Give discounts on new gryphon product so don't even try...I've tried and tried lol and you all know I TRY and I failed. If you want gryphon, prepare to pay FULL PRICE unless you buy from Europe. That is like the Louie Vuitton brand. When did you ever see any on sale in their store? Never...just doesn't happen

Actually Chazzy there has been 2 sold in the past 2-3 weeks on Audiogon. Other one was sold by Speaker maker BACHE in New York.
I enjoy reading and watching the train wreck. In the past 2-3 months I have purchased the REF 10, 160M, DAG 400's, Joseph Audio Pearls + Pulsars...compared to the OP I seem completely sane. As long as your Wife doesnt commit you to a padded cell I know there will always be one person out there that is crazier than me! Keep up the good work...you lunatic  :)

McIntosh is MID-FI. People buy it for the name without even bothering to listen to other brands...OR they simply cant afford to go up the food chain.  Mcintosh is the Harley Davidson of Stereo Equipment.  Im surrounded by MC dealers and they pretty much confirm everything that the OP has stated. Great Re-sale value but WAAAAY behind the top dogs in quality/performance. When I first ventured into this world I went to a VERY Well known dealership in Delaware.  Of course at the time I thought MC was the best and the salesman did his best to steer me away from MC and get some Audio Research.  Basically they said "We have people like you come in here ALL the time with the predisposition that MC is the best...and that is far from the truth".  So I didnt listen cause I thought it was just a sales pitch and I went home with my MC Amp + Pre-Amp which where the Newest and "greatest" at the time.  What I eventually learned when I opened up my ears and my wallet was that I would never buy another piece of MC again after experience with Audio Research, D'agostino, Ayre etc.   Mcintosh is in the minor league for sure.

"The experts just told us that Mac is mid-fi"

Sure is and it doesn't take an expert to hear it. The C52 is what I brought home that day and it cant touch the Ayre KXR-Twenty, REF 6 or 10, Shindo Pre's Ive had.  Im totally confident that Luxman, D'agostino, T+A, Pass Labs and many others would lay waste to it. The C52 IS good....for a Mcintosh pre which have always been held in low regard...except by MC Fan Boys of course. 2200+ Posts?? A person only learns from listening...not from talking (Typing). Maybe you should spend more time auditioning other brands gear and less time behind the keyboard. Just a thought.

Nope...Havent seen that Roxy. Thanks for the "Virtual" heads up Ron. Didnt know it existed. Guess I havent investigated enough
My point was simple. You already asked the OP once and he declined to comment...which is what he does when he doesnt feel the need or desire to answer. That's his right and it certainly wouldn't be the first time in this thread.  Asking the same question multiple times in back to back posts hoping to get the response you want....thats like a baby crying for its bottle. If he wanted you or anybody else to see his room he would address it.
The guy is asking FULL PRICE for used speakers. (Retail -20% Standard discount)  I bet nobody is going to bite on those anywhere near that amount. 10-12K is more like it...especially in the summer
Roxy was being sarcastic about the MID-FI comment.  WCSS called Mcintosh products MID-FI in this thread....which is exactly what they are.  Put some DAG M400's in that setup and the game would be over.
Earlier this week I saw the D'agostino Momentum's being offered (Trade In) for 25K.  Trying to remember what dealer it was. Thats what I paid for my Momentum 400's so you can probably knock them down a bit if I can find them again.
I concur on the Dag's. NOBODY has ever called them DARK...some people should stick to what they know (Bryston?? LOL) When individuals spout nonsense like that they lose all credibility. Whats that proverb....Better to be thought a fool then to open thy mouth and remove all doubt.
GS150 is a dog which dealers have been dumping..or trying to.. for the past year or so. Has lots of issues. The latest AR Tube (160M) is far and away the best Amp they have ever produced. Also has Auto Biasing. Might want to read up on it

MP,

Mac 2301 is over a decade old in technology. I havent been around long enough to know AR equipment from that long ago. For me MAC and AR are in entirely different ballparks and are not comparable. SOTA vs Mid-Fi...and priced accordingly

If your gonna try more tubes you have to absolutely try to get a Demo pair of REF 160M. Hit Mike up and ask to borrow his.

Might take awhile for them to hit the market cause everybody loves them so much...OR you can move to the PA/NJ Area and you can borrow my Dag 400's, 160M, Ayre KXR-20 Preamp, Audio Note Jinro and a bunch of speakers you've never tried (Audio Note/Joseph Audio Pearl's/O96's/Salk Soundscape 8) ...The move might be cheaper!! :)

You dont want him to try Dag 400’s with the Ref 10. His search might be over...then this will become a SPEAKER page instead. There are several people on the AudioShark Forum that have the Dag 400/Ref 10 setup AND have previously had (or still have) Luxman 900’s as well. They all prefer the Dag 400 with Ref 10 OR the Dag Pre-Amp. Go to the D’AGOSTINO page and read for yourself...don’t take my word for it.

Unfortunately most DAG comments made recently are from somebody that has never heard them...even thou according to him they were available for him to audition but he passed just because of the price tag. Ever notice how people that cant afford certain gear just talk about them out of spite/jealousy/insecurity etc? Sadly misinformation happens all the time and gives some people the wrong impression/ideas about how something actually sounds. That guys Opinion becomes THEIR Opinion and then in later posts (Potentially on other boards) those impressionable people with ZERO Experience with the product state that guys observations as fact. That’s why I appreciate this thread. Im hearing somebodys opinion based on reality...not fantasy/speculation.

Personally even if I couldn’t afford something but was given the opportunity to hear it I certainly would want to....that way I know what to potentially shoot for down the road. Learn what my system could be like. But hey...that’s just me

Its not MY thread. I dont listen to Violins/Harps so what I hear listening to Classic/Hard Rock wouldnt apply to you (or possibly most) anyway. I traded in my Ayre VXR Twenty towards the 160M's.

Opinion on GS150 not based on sound quality....based on BUILD Quality and how many had defects and were returned for repair. This is why they have been purged as fast as possible from dealer inventories at maximum discounts.

3  Got em cheap. Havent used them yet. Just another "toy in the attic" for usage at a later date.
WC Knows where to find me if he cares to pick my brain. Just did a deal for the Lux 900U/Pass 25 Combo this morning so look forward to adding those to the stable. Thanks WC for the excellent Lux reviews which sucked me in :)

Techno_Troll,

Your entitled to your opinion. I have serious doubts you have heard either one of them. Point is mute anyway cause you don't have my ears, taste, room etc  If you took a poll of 1000 audiophiles and 999 said the Ayre was better I still wouldn't give a damn. My ears are the only ones that count.

WC...I have a Ref 10 so thats covered.

Troll...Have always considered Luxman...before I even discovered this thread. Got the 900U from a FRIEND who's vast knowledge of equipment based on ACTUAL ownership...not speculation is what sold me. WC just backed up his findings and I appreciate his input because he ACTUALLY owned and listened to it versus many other amps/preamps in his ongoing battle for audio supremacy.

For you to recklessly say that the VXR is superior to the 160M (Without hearing either of them) proves to me that you really don't know Jack and your talking out of your ass....so your opinion about anything isn't even on the map of consideration in my book at this point.

Ive had 4 or 5 Pieces of AYRE...Only the KXR-20 Pre is worth keeping.  Nothing special about the Ayre Amps...although they smoke the Mcintosh gear I have owned or heard. Havent heard them all including the 2301's.

How would you possibly know how much I paid for anything?? This just adds to your Troll reputation.

The VXR I did not pay a premium for....in the 7K Range and it was only 6 months old. At that price it was a screaming bargain. I got 11K in trade for it less than a year later....was that a bad deal Sherlock???

So how much do you know about the ARC 160M?? Do you know its AUTO-BIAS?? What cons are you talking about?? There has been TONS of articles, reviews and auditions by ARC for the past 6 months or so across the USA at multiple dealerships. Have you attended any to give it a listen before passing judgment??

Not sure why you care so much about what I do with my equipment. I retired at 44 and have plenty of time on my hands to experiment and swap in/out as I please. I currently have well over 50 Amps/Receivers of all makes, models, vintage and my inventory changes every month. Should I ask for your permission from now on when I feel like unloading something I no longer want or need...I mean just to make sure I don't make any mistakes again like trading in the VXR towards the 160M.

.

Jafant,

Nope not a audio dealer although I'd like to think I help keep some in business like WC. Retired 10 years ago. Lots of free time on my hands and like trying out new toys every month or so to keep it interesting.

It's a shame that some people are so self absorbed that they dont realize 90% of the audience has left the party. Congratulations on alienating almost everybody except for a few like minded individuals. If I want to experience pretentiousness I will put in a Frasier DVD or a Mash episode featuring Charles Emerson Winchester the 3rd.  Get the Hint already and take it elsewhere.
ROGUE is made right in my close proximity in Pennsyltucky....your comparing them to ARC? LOL  UNBELIEVABLE what people come up with on this board without owning/trying any of it.  The hits just keep on coming.
No problem with sound quality until the transformer hum starts. Also better live in a house with a great ventilation system. I wouldnt be able to use the 508 for more than 4-5 months out of the year due to the heat it throws off.
If somebody wants to compare Rogue to Primaluna, Line Magnetic or Mid-Tier brands like that by all means have at it.  You will not find a Reviewer or Dealer on the planet that would compare Rogue to ARC, VAC, MAC, LUX etc in a favorable manner...it will NEVER happen. A Reviewer would be laughed out of a job making such a statement.  Even the High End dealers in the general area of where Rogue is made in Bucks County dont carry their product. That should speak volumes itself
BTW the guy who bought my 508 had problems a few months after he got it from me and he ditched it immediately. Lucky I moved it when I did.
Agree on LM...I have owned them including the 508 last year. Wait till you have a problem thou. Have fun sending back that 120 Pound monster 219. Lots of Buzz/Humming problems with various LM amps unfortunately. You can go on the Steve Hoffman Forums and no matter which LM Amp you do a search on you will find people with problems...mostly the ones listed above.
Techno_Troll    What was that comment you made awhile back about having CLASS?  So you finally found somebody that might have inferior equipment to you...and you dumped on him in a public forum because that's the best system he can afford at the present time.  You are quite a man....parents must be quite proud.

TheZaks/Dave,

If the equipment/brand in question was actually owned/auditioned by the party calling them Crapola thats one thing. If you've actually read this thread (and other threads certain parties are involved in on Audiogon) in their entirety you would notice certain people talking BS about stuff they have never even heard. Its happened MANY times...this isnt an isolated incident by certain individuals...and I think people are fed up with it quite frankly.   Ive expressed my opinion on MAC Gear cause I have owned multiple pieces out of the 60+ Amps/Receivers etc in my collection.   You might also notice that this party "Steals" or Plagiarizes comments made by others (again...Check his profile for threads he has been involved in) and imparts these tidbits as his own wisdom...when in fact he hasnt owned/auditioned the gear....and he isnt the only one in this particular thread either. That to me suggests an insecure person whose only way to derive self esteem for himself is by appearing to have superior knowledge to others and trashing equipment which is foreign to them. Psychology 101. That equates to being a TROLL in my book so the moniker stands.

No problems sharing experiences and voicing opinions BASED on ACTUAL experience with the product you are bashing....like WC does.  Somehow that went over people's heads OR reading comprehension skills are sorely lacking.

First of all STOP making me into a Jewish Woman (RHEA).

RIAA = Record Industry Association of America. The governing body of the music industry which counts all record sales....just for your info.

Your gonna have to move to the North East to try the Dag's. You will also have to adopt a NJ/NY attitude which is "dont take any S___ from anybody" as Billy Joel always says in Concert. :)

Mcintosh holds it value not because of quality but because everybody knows the name (Like BOSE). Harley Davidson is the same way in the Motorcycle arena. Neither is ANYWHERE near being the best. VIBER implied that MACS are overpriced...I dont think so. You can buy 2-3 pieces of MAC gear for the same price as many other brands. With Mac you get what you pay for...and to me thats mediocrity...OK Musical Mediocrity. Waiting for WC to see the light of day when it comes to the 2301's. He just started down the TUBE road and I think he will be pleasantly surprised when he tried other TUBE gear in comparison to the Macs.  If he tried ARC 250SE, 160M, Audio Note (SET), VAC, SHINDO Im confident he would be happy to see the 2301's exit the building. We'll just have to see wont we.

Roxy,

Almost couldnt have said it better myself...except "poor" isn't a word I would have chosen. If someone is completely satisfied with their system regardless of brands in them thats great. I think if most Mac users actually ventured out and experimented with other brands maybe some of that satisfaction they currently have would fade away...maybe not.  I hope I live long enough (and retain my hearing) to try just about everything.  I wanted to try the 2301's but my local dealer...who carries both Mac and ARC...told me I would hate him if he let me buy the 2301's over the 250SE. So as I saved up for the 250SE the superior 160M came out. So I got the Auto Biasing 160M....Im hopefully ALL Tube amps in the future have the hassle free auto biasing. I cant believe that Mac hasnt been able to invent a Tube Amp in the last Decade thats an upgrade over the 2301. Thats a LONG time!!

Jetter,

This has been addressed by Numerous people already. Some people just like to hear themselves speak. IT is not going away. You would think a Doctor would spend more time treating patients than CREATING new patients who now need therapy due to having to endure his self indulgent posts on this thread.

Perhaps a Go Fund me page for a Mail Order Bride..or at the very least for an adoption at the local dog pound is in order. Not sure I want the blood on my hands thou when the Bride or Dog takes their own life from listening to this incessant over the top babbling. Maybe we can find one of HARRY MUDD's 50 wives from that Star Trek Episode and they can talk themselves to death.  Its sad really. The OP has put 2 years worth of time and effort into this thread and somebody decides to take over the thread and drive most of the "subscribers" away. If this was an episode of Survivor I have no doubt who the majority would vote off the Island. Im sure I would get some votes too for my NE Coast bluntness.
