Budget and any other constraints, such as size of speakers, can they be floorstanding, and size of room. B&W 303 are good if he needs a small speaker and the room isn't too big.
Now Tennisball has given us some info--I think Bose or maybe Bang and Olufsen. They are the masters at simple and easy to use--and you don't have to worry about them being too Audiophile.
