I am somewhat confused about which universal players will output multichannel SACD over HDMI. Is it just universal blu ray players, such as the Oppos, that will do it? My Onkyo TX-SR 3008 is the processor.
Not entirely so. HDMI 1.2 and above have the capability for outputting DSD over HDMI but not every player will. Also, depending on the player, some prior to 1.2 will output PCM from SACD.
