I had a chance to buy the Montana and went with VMPS but I have the FF3 SRE, the VMPS might be harder to get right and may be more picky with associated electronics, but that is just my guess.
Had the Montana SP2's and the VMPS RM 40's and loved the SP 2's much more. I wish I never sold them! Very very musical speaker! I could never get the RM 40's to sound as good in my room. But they were the very early version.
