Otis Reeding - “Sitting by the Dock of Bay” sounds good even when using a stereo cartridge on the mono LP.
The Thelonious Monk blue note LP5002 is the same goodness.
Mono Recommendations
Since I own just one pair of Quad Electrostatic Speakers, I find myself with one speaker while the other one is with my repair technician. The antidote is to play a lot of mono recordings. Mainly classical and jazz but some rock, roots, western swing, etc...I also have a mono cartridge turntable and a hefty selection of mono vinyl to supplement my digital sources. Most of my mono is special and was never recorded in stereo. And I'm assuming that I'm not the only Audiogon poster who appreciates mono. So if you would, please recommend some of your favorite mono recordings on either vinyl, compact disc or internet download. Tidal is also an option though I prefer audiophile remasters. I'm always interested in further building up my collection.
Thanks!
@goofyfoot I am not a fan of Tool or Nazareth, but it is good to have something for the visitors 😎 The Monk is not something I would listen to as much in a chair as with company over... But it sound good in the chair, The Otis is great either way.
@noromance I have my snout into it like a truffle pig.Thanks, |
