Mods to Legacy Focus 20/20s, wire, caps?

I have a pair of Focus 20/20s and the bases were missing when I bought them. I'm going to use some maple blocks from Mapleshade and brass spikes to get them off the carpet. I've read about the internals being average in quality, so I'm considering taking a woofer out and seeing about upgrading the wiring and maybe a bypass cap or 2, and perhaps cap replacements? Has anyone done any internal upgrades? Any suggestions on what wire to use for the internal connections? Cap suggestions? Should I consider changing the terminal block?
