Mid Fi streaming question.

Hi all , I’m currently at the Mid Fi level and in the process of improving my system. My current streaming setup is an Innuos Pulse Mini with an aftermarket LPS feeding an original Schiit Yiggy with an updated Gen 5 USB. I’m running a Wireworld Starlight Platinum USB to the Yiggy and Morrow level 5 IC’s to my pre. I’m currently running single ended and will be going to a higher quality balanced rig. I believe that my streaming rig is already the weak link in my system even before I go to the new setup. But I have an issue even it this point. The music sounds acceptable under the circumstances about 2/3 of the time. The rest of the time it has a more hollow sound and a bit more glare. My exact question is , I am hardwired but have a real hodgepodge of a connection due to structural limits. I have ATT in via coax to a modem/ router. I have a cat 5 out to the other end of the house but dead end before I reach my destination. From there I have a TP-Link outlet adapter that the Cat cable plugs into. Then in my living room the other wall outlet adapter with a cat cable to the Innuos. I know it’s a real mess  and need a solution to the 6 items linked together that use my house circuit to carry the signal. However until I can get someone to run a dedicated line that will be 150 feet long and have to use an outside wall , any suggestions? My initial thoughts are to use some kind of Ethernet isolation filter. I see cheap ones on Amazon and some nicer ones that run about $300-400. My goal is to clean this up as I expect an improvement will definitely be had and eventually I’ll upgrade my steamer. Thanks in advance for not burning me at the stake. Respectfully, Mike B.

Start with using a wifi extender to get the signal directly from your router and sending it to your streamer via a short ethernet cable would probably result in a much cleaner signal than a combination of long cables.

I use a TP-LINK router with a TP-LINK extender with great results. I try to only give tips to people who ask for it if I have hands on experience with their issue. I hope the OP will pay it attention. His custom wired connection from router to streamer lives me baffled.

As I said earlier, you run an ethernet cable from the extender to the Innuos streamer. I have an Innuos streamer too. Meaning the extender receives the wifi signal from your router but it sends the signal to your streamer via an ethernet cable connection.

I also use a TP-LINK router and extender. And I do use optical isolation. I actually tried the smoothLan but it actually muddled the sound in my system. Everything ends up being system dependent. Mine involves mostly better than average cables  in the $700 range each, expensive fuses, the use of a DDC to take advantage of I2s over USB. And believe it or not, I'm now at the point of fine tuning the sound with various isolation feet under every piece of equipment and I find my Innuos zenith mk3 streamer is particularly very sensitive to those. Point being, the journey to achieving a sound that's great to your ears is a long one. But you need to start somewhere. You are doing it right going with the extender, then listen for a couple weeks, add something else, listen to it for two more weeks and so on. Some stuff will work for you, some won't. But with patience you'll be rewarded. You can check my house of stereo for more info about my equipment. Digital was new to me a few years back and I persevered and like ghdprentice, it now sounds as good as my analog rig, or even better depending on the style of music. One last note, not sure about the Pulse vs the mini, but the word was the Zenith mk3 was the sweet spot in their line, between their lower models and their top of the line at twice the cost. I am very satisfied.
