Meadowlark vs Gershman

Hello guys,I hate the this VS that message bit i had to do it, here is the situation, i won meadowlark shearwater Hotrods, i really enjoy them, they are connected to a audio reseach tube pre and a mcintosh 352 solid state amp/ I don't think the meadowlarks are enough speakers for me, they start to break up when i want to crank the music, they might be loud enough for some but i need more ear bleeding volume,I am thinking of selling the shearwaters and buying the gershman avant garde rx2 loudspeakers, Is what i need to know is, looking at the spec below, In theory, Can the gershmans be played at louder volumes then the meadowlarks without cackling, here are the specs/ Meadowlark Shearwaters The HR Shearwaters' frequency response is stated as 35Hz to 22kHz, +/- 3dB, with a sensitivity rating of 88/dB/W/m. Gershman Frequency Response: 24Hz-24kHz Sensitivity: 87dB @ 1w/1m Impedance: 8 Ohms Height: 36 inches Footprint: 12 inches by 12 inches Weight: 75 pounds In theory, Can the gershmans be played at louder volumes then the meadowlarks without cackling? thanks for taking the time to read. You will need some serious power to get the rx-20 to play loud and they are a rather laid back speaker for loud music. Hard for me to imagine, I had a pair of the 2 year old models. i guess they have a newer version but......
I am a proud owner of the RX-20's. I love to crank my speakers to levels that most people cant tolerate, so I would be willing to bet that these would fit the bill. I demoed the Meadowlarks before buying the Gershmans and I felt the same as you did (plus the fact that the Gershmans are all around better performers). These speakers are incredible, I cannot recomment them highly enough. In fact I like the Gershmans so much that I may move up to the GAP's.
